Celebrating Exceptional Quality Beef with That’s Island Style.
Atlantic Beef Products partners with Sobey’s and the PEILCC.
“As part of the That’s Island Style campaign that promotes our high quality Island food and drink products, Island liquor stores and Sobey’s locations will be holding free in-store tastings that will remind shoppers how delicious our local products taste,” said PEI Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac.
“We hope these in-store tastings will encourage shoppers to buy local and support our local industries.”
The tasting on Friday June 17 featured Island beef paired with PEI Brewing Company’s Victoria Park Ale and Rossignol’s Marechal Foch.
@chefJordanDennis from the Sobey’s West Royalty location in Charlottetown created a delicious beef taste treat, Tomato and Beer Braised PEI Beef. (recipe below).
“Island Style is a great opportunity to showcase the bounty of Canada’s Food Island and we are pleased that our exceptional quality beef will be featured this weekend,” said President of Atlantic Beef Products Inc. Russ Mallard. “Atlantic Beef Products is proud to provide Prince Edward Island Certified Beef to Sobeys, our partner in bringing Better Food to Islanders.”
Recipe cards featuring local products will be handed out at the in-store tastings, as well as a map of Island locations where the featured products originate.

Tomato and Beer Braised PEI Beef
3lb Certified Island Beef Crossrib Roast
1 ½ cup Van Kampen’s Cherry Tomatoes, halved
1 cup PEI Brewing Company Vic Park Pale Ale
1 Litre Beef Stock
2 tbsp Sensations Olive Oil
1 tbsp Steak Spice
1tbsp Garlic, minced
¼ cup Leeks, white part only, sliced
1 cup Portabella Mushrooms, chopped
1 tbsp Fresh thyme, minced
4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 300F. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Season beef generously on all sides with salt and pepper. Saute leeks and mushroom for 4-5 minutes before adding in tomatoes and garlic. Place beef in pot and add in remaining ingredients.
Place a cover on the pot and place in the oven for about 3 hours. When beef has finished braising, carefully remove from pot and portion as desired. The braising liquid can be served as a sauce with the beef. The beef can also be pulled apart and served on a piece of sliced baguette with the braising liquid poured overtop.
Enjoy the great taste of Prince Edward Island Certified Beef.
